About Our Team
In July, my daughter and I will be going on our very first mission trip. Besides Rachel and I, our team is made up of two very close friends and their daughters. We will be working with orphans in Guatemala! We are excited for this opportunity to serve God and to be a part of His story in the lives of these children. Please read below about our trip. We would love your prayer support most of all. If God places it on your heart, you can help to support our team financially on this website.

Why Your Support Is Important

Every year, Buckner sends thousands of individuals and church groups on short-term mission trips to minister to orphans and at-risk children and families in the United States and more than eight countries around the world.

Mission trip participants take part in daily devotionals, pass out humanitarian aid, lead Vacation Bible Schools or sports camps and deliver the Gospel message to many children and families who long for the hope and healing offered through Jesus Christ.  Buckner handles all the overseas travel details and works with participants to coordinate group travel within the United States.  Trip participants are responsible for raising their own support.

Buckner began its Guatemala program in 2002. The ministries and programs include:

Residential Care – Buckner offers residential care to abandoned children in two homes: the Baby Home in Guatemala City has the capacity to care for 12 to 14 babies who have been abandoned by their families.

Fundación Salvación in Huehuetenango is an orphanage with the capacity to care for up to 80 children. Theprogram is designed to give these children a home with the structure and support they need to heal and recover.

Transition Ministries – Buckner serves both older children and single mothers through their transition ministries in Guatemala City. A Girls Transition Home and Boys Transition Home each care for children who are 14 years and older. The children remain with Buckner through completion of college or vocational training. House parents and others support these teens as they become independent and self-sufficient young adults. Buckner opened the Single Parent Home in 2007 to provide a small group home environment for mothers where they can live and learn how to properly care for their children and maintain their focus on obtaining an education.

Orphanages – Buckner is currently involved with four government orphanages and five private orphanages in the communities of Zacapa, Xela and Guatemala City. The ministries in these locations include mission trips, follow-up evangelistic programs and humanitarian aid.

Follow-Up Program – Buckner has a concentrated evangelistic follow-up program in the San Gabriel Boys Orphanage and Manchen Girls Orphanage to ensure long-term sustainability and services to these abandoned children.
